How in the world do you plan your Perfect Dream Wedding in the Dallas Fort Worth area when you have a small budget? How much money do you even need to plan a wedding? Well, girl, it is 100% possible to plan your wedding with ANY budget, no matter how big or small. So here are 10 tips to save a bunch of money on your wedding so it fits your budget, without it looking cheap!
Before we get into it, I would LOVE to invite you to join my free virtual event for brides who are starting on their wedding planning! It's called "How to Plan All the Details You Need for Your Wedding Day So You Can Enjoy Every Moment of It!" And it's PERFECT for brides who are ballin' on a budget! ;) Just click this link to save your spot!
Before you can even begin to start paying for things, whether it's your venue or wedding decorations, you need need NEED to know how much you actually have!
Sit down with your fiancé. Write out exactly how much you can contribute to the wedding. How much can he contribute? How much can other people who offered to help pay for your wedding contribute?
Have an actual number! And do NOT start buying ANYthing until you have that number. It will make things wayyyyyyy easier and less stressful for you, I promise. :)
Now that you have a tangible number to work with, you can start figuring out what you want to spend it on! :) Because I see sooooo many brides who spend their money on things that aren't actually that important to them. And then, they find that their budget is all used up, and they haven't even started paying on the most important things.
So! With your fiancé, write out EVERYTHING you can think of that you'll have to spend money on for your wedding. From venue to wedding dress to send-off materials. Then, categorize them into 3 categories: your "must-haves", your "would like to haves," and your "not necessary" items. Those items on the must-have list should be the VERY FIRST places that your budget goes into!
After you've ordered all your wedding expenses from most important to least important, go through your "Must-Haves" and "Would Like to Haves" sections. Brainstorm how you can save money on those things!
For example. With your venue, you can get married during the week instead of on the weekend! Most venues charge wayyyyy less (like $1,000-$3,000 less) if you get married on a Monday-Thursday.
With your wedding dress, can you borrow someone's dress or get it from a consignment store?
Go through the list and write out ways that you would be okay with to get the total wedding costs down!
Here's a list of my top 5 favorite ways to save money on your wedding!
No matter what, do NOT go into debt for your wedding day! God WILL provide for you financially. He already has your Perfect Dream Wedding perfectly planned! But it does not honor Him to spend money that you don't have. So either find a way to make that money, or find a way to get the price down.
To make some extra cash for your wedding, you could get a part-time job. So many places are hiring right now! Even to work remotely! You could drive for Doordash or Instacart. You could nanny or pet sit. You could get a job at a restaurant near you...
Or, if there's no way you can get a job, you can find ways to save more of the money that you already make every month! Check on all your monthly subscriptions to make sure you still use them. Change car insurance to a company that gives you a better rate. Cut out those fast food or Starbucks runs.
But do not go into debt! Okay?
Yes, you read that right! Haha. Girl, if you have a small budget, then you NEED to have a Dallas wedding planner on your side.
"But Chelsey, that doesn't make sense! How would spending money on this unnecessary thing possibly help me when my budget is already so small?"
Well, it's because your budget IS so small! Wedding planning isn't easy. But you know what's even HARDER? Wedding planning ON A SMALL BUDGET! Haha. It's REALLY easy to plan a wedding and overspend! But it takes a looooot of knowledge and skill and expertise to plan your wedding WITHOUT going over your budget.
Brides who DON'T hire a wedding planner in Dallas are way more stressed, way more behind, and spend way more money. Why? Because they're just playing a guessing game. And that guessing game is costing them a LOT. And you don't have the money for that! I know you think that doing it DIY and planning on your own will save you money. But unfortunately, it just doesn't. :(
